PortsLock 1.4
SmartLine Releases PortsLock 1.4 for Windows
Almost 80 percent of security breaches originate from within the corporate firewall. With enterprises experiencing an average of $1 million in losses per year due to such breaches, mobilizing against these types of attacks is crucial. It is imperative to control who has access to network resources inside the network.
Windows NT/2000/XP and Windows Server 2003 have a lot of built-in access control features that should be used by Systems Administrators to designate user access to various areas. Unfortunately, standard access control solutions (including personal firewalls) do not allow the assignment of permissions for TCP/IP connections on a per user basis. PortsLock allows you to solve all such security problems.
PortsLock is a new technology that allows administrators to set user-level access controls for PCs. More than a personal firewall, PortsLock enables you to set permissions on TCP/IP connections exactly as you can for files and folders on NTFS partitions. And PortsLock is easy to deploy and manage in your corporate network.
Another unique feature of PortsLock is its ability to audit a user's network activity on the local computer. Systems Administrators can log network activity that belongs to a certain user or user group.
PortsLock provides a mechanism of monitoring TCP/IP activity in real-time. With this feature, Systems Administrators can determine which process and user have an address open and what remote network addresses suspicious applications are accessing.
PortsLock does not require administrators to pour over help manuals just to learn how to use this program effectively.
PortsLock costs $50 (US) for a single-user license. Discounts are available for multi-user licenses and for Educational Institutions.
