Capabilities include:

- Inventory: Updated inventory of all computers and software installed and used across the network; searchable and organized by multiple views such as OS, CPU, memory or installation dates

- Contracts: A centralized repository of all software licenses and IT contracts (such as services, leases, maintenance agreements, ISP and hosting contracts)

- Risks: Analyze inventory to detect illegal software (such as games and filesharing), missing anti-virus protection, security patches and missing software licenses, to name a few

Support for all versions of Windows, Linux (RedHat), Solaris, HPUX and Mac is available.

The SAManage service Uses an agent that is installed automatically on each managed computer (via domain logon scripts or active directory GPO). The agent runs daily on the local machine and reports the computer configuration back to the vendor's datacenter (via outbound port 80 by default) and the user can login to the site to manage his computer and software inventory and take any action required to manage his risks.
